Alyssa Beard
Alyssa Beard (she/they) is a neurodivergent black queer femme from Baltimore, Maryland, where she entered the dance world via her grandmother as a child. She moved to Texas (yeehaw) and grew up in the world of Latin dance, night clubbing, mosh pits and country dance; eventually finding her way to Lindy Hop. Now in Montreal, Alyssa teaches dance on a mission to spread her knowledge and passion for the Black American experience and dive deeper into her cultural traditions.
Credits include placements at ILHC, Swing Riot, Lindyfest, Canadian Swing Championships, O-Town Showdown, & Beantown. With teaching appearances at Swing Out New Hampshire 2026, Sauga Foot Stomp 2024 & 2025, Down By the Riverside 2025 & 2026, Kicksteppin’ at the Kapital 2025 and teaching local troupes, solo classes, and partnered classes at Cats Corner Swing Dance School since 2023. With stage appearances at Lindy Focus 24-25 Marie Ndiaye’s Honeysuckles, ILHC 2026, and Swing Riot 2025 with Cats Corner Chorus Line, along with additional performances through the Cat’s Corner Downtown Stompers.
